The goal of the conference was to provide young women from around the globe with the opportunity to learn, network and acquire leadership and professional development skills essential for success. The Pakistani students were received and looked after by their American hosts with exemplary warmth and hospitality. They stayed at the Lesley University dorms, where they shared rooms with conference partners from the United States . This helped them to foster friendship and provided them with the opportunity to share information and ideas about their respective cultures.
The students participated in and attended a number of programs and activities; some of which were:
Tour of the Massachusetts State House
Meeting with women legislators of the Massachusetts State Assembly
Workshop on the Art of Negotiation at the Harvard Law School

IPhO (International Physics Olympiad) 2007
Given here are the details of Mohammad Suleman's journey starting from the basic screening test and leading to the IPhO 2007(International Physics Olympiad) held in Iran. Participation in the IPhO is becoming a tradition at Resource Academia...in fact, according to our students, Resource Academia has become a household name at NSTC. Our student Awais Sher Bajwa paticipated in IPhO 2006 , which was held in Singapore ....and three of our students have just attended the first camp and are in the process of qualifying for the IPhO 2008. By attending these camps they develop a command on the subject which eventually leads them to excellent result in Cambridge exams. Awais Sher Bajwa topped in the region in Physics in the CIE (Cambridge International Examinations), 2006. Mohammad Suleman achieved honourable mention in the IPhO 2007 and we are proud of him.
SWERA Works with CARE (March 29, 2007)
The social welfare society of Resource Academia SWERA attended a four-day internship program organized by CARE Foundation Pakistan . Our team comprised of 11 members; six members went to CARE's Township branch, four members to CARE's Rahimpura Branch, and one member to the Main Market Branch. The students took Science, English, Biology, Mathematics and English Speaking lessons with students of Classes six to ten . One of the students had the experience of being the chief guest at a debating competition on ‘Pollution Free Pakistan'. During this informative experience, we observed that the children at these unprivileged schools had no extra-curricular activities, their teachers used no teaching aids and their reading proficiency was very poor. The worst aspect of these schools is that corporal punishment is inflicted on students. RA's student team recommended that the teachers at such schools should receive teacher-training workshops to enable them and assist them in becoming better teachers. The experience of working with the less fortunate children in the city was an enlightening occurrence and it helped us to appreciate and value the privileges we enjoy and take for granted.

After 9/11 the Holy Quran was the most selling book in the United States,' stated Mary Lahaj a Lebanese American, the guest speaker at the first ever internet broadcast by Empower Peace, which was viewed by countries all over the world, including Pakistan. As an American Muslim, she realized that Muslims were marginalized and were not in the mainstream, which prompted her to take up her present position, that would help her increase understanding of other faiths. Tricia Raynard and Mariam Abdoo of Empower Peace hosted the broadcast. They were joined by Diane Caldwell, the co-chair of the Women to Women Conference held in Boston this summer. Viewers e-mailed their questions for the guest speakers during the programme.
The majority of questions came from students of Resource Academia. The students asked pertinent and intelligent questions about the causes and remedies of the growing trend of Islamic militancy and how it is affecting the relationship between the western and the Muslim world. They also inquired about the image of the Muslim World as projected by the Western Media.
Interestingly, Rida Bhatti of O2 won an i-pod in the lucky draw held during the broadcast. This internet chat was the first of the regular monthly broadcasts planned by Empower Peace.
