Playgroup students learnt about different professions during the month of April. The best technique to enable them to understand these, was to role play the professionals that included doctors, engineers, plumbers, bakers, drivers, and many more. Since children's learning is enhanced through experience and fun activities, they learned to bake buns in the class to find out how a baker works. The little chefs thoroughly enjoyed this activity and certainly learned a lot. Recipes for the month during cooking classes included chocolate chip cookies, croissant sandwiches and baked rice.

Class Projects (Apr 2008)
We strongly believe that in order to round up a wholesome personality, it is imperative that all skills of the students are tapped so as to identify their aptitude and talent. Our system contains a very elaborate curricular and co-curricular structure whereby innovative activities are designed to realize a child's potential. Each concept introduced in the class is usually strengthened with an activity or projects made by the students. This month the students of Class 2 read a lesson about ‘Chirria Ghar'(The Zoo) in their Urdu Class and their interest in the lesson is evident from their projects. Students of KG celebrated the arrival of spring with their colorful flower projects.
Annual Commemoration Day (Apr 17, 2008)
The much awaited event of the year, the 'Annual Commemoration Day' took place on April 17, 2008 at the Lahore Arts Council. The event took place with a lot of gusto and hard work by the students and teachers alike. Everyone was quite enthused about the event. It was an ensemble of a variety of acts that comprised fairy tales, classics, contemporary theatrical performances and an 'Urdu' play based on social issues. The choir was amazing and entertained the audience with its melodious tunes through out the evening.
The programme started with the recital of Surah Nasar and its translation. Thereafter, it was followed by Ms. John's address whereby she appreciated the efforts of students and staff towards compiling a beautiful show. As per RA tradition, students of Playgroup pass on the Light of Knowledge to the A' levels students. The ceremony signifies how the light of knowledge travels year after year. To carry out this ritual, Zehra Basil and Syed Ibrahim Bin Hassan of PG passed on the torch to the Head Girl, Marwa Khan and Head Boy, Abdullah Khalid from the A Level Campus.
The first performance of the evening was by the students of Classes 1 and 2. They presented a hymn by Yousaf Islam, Laila ha Illullah.
The Kindergarten students brought forth the nostalgic tunes of Que Sera Sera and acted out their dreams for the future. Dressed up as various professionals, they lured the audience with their performance. KG-A students presented a vivacious depiction of their favourite cartoon movie, Chicken Licken. The hall resonated with loud claps of the guests at the endearing 'chicky' dance by the colourfully attired children. KG-C and E were no less with their heart-warming performance in a ball room scene from 'The Beauty and the Beast', one of the most popular epic tales, which still mesmerizes us.
Classes 1 C and D presented a very realistic depiction of Roald Dahl's classic book, ‘James and the Giant Peach'. It was the story of an orphan with terrible aunts for guardians. He befriends human like bugs who live inside a giant peach, and take the boy on a journey to New York City . The acting of those young students was par excellence and much appreciated by the parents. Classes 1 A and B put together all the fairy tale characters in the story of the contemporary legend, Shrek, who is in sharp contrast to conventional fairy tale characters. Although Shrek and Fiona are a far cry from the most fantasized prince and princess, they are quite popular amongst children and adults alike.
Class 2 A, B and C jointly presented an amazing rendition of Lois Walker's play, ‘The Crazy Critters'. They created an atmosphere full of exhilaration and thrill with brightly dressed children as llamas, chimpanzees, giraffes, kangaroos and dinosaurs.
Class 3's play ‘Maamar-e-Qaum' dealt with the vice of child labour, a very pertinent social issue usually brushed under the carpet. Our students' endeavor in raising awareness amongst adults regarding this burning issue was commendable.
The much awaited 'Grand Finale' of the evening was presented by the elaborately dressed students of Class 3, who danced their hearts out to the songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats – The most famous musical of all times. They began with Rum Tum Tigger followed by Memories and finally Jelikle Cats. The finesse and agility in their feline movements was completely spectacular and entranced the audience till the end of the act. Those cats created an absolute feeling of euphoria and took everyone by surprise with their breathtaking performance.
The evening culminated with Ms. Mahmood's address, whereby she thanked parents for their presence and support throughout the rehearsals. She also appreciated the unrelenting efforts and patience of the staff and students during the never-ending practices, costume designing and highly elaborate make up. Everyone went home that evening thrilled, and with a cache of beautiful memories.
